2. Algemene Informatie
2.1 On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) II
De eerste generatie van On-Board Diagnostics (genoemd OBD I) werd
ontwikkeld door California Air Resources Board (ARB) en ingevoerd
in 1988 om de emissie controle van bepaalde onderdelen in de
voertuigen te controleren. Als gevolg van de toegenomen verlangen
om het On-Board Diagnostic systeem te verbeteren en ontwikkelingen
in technologie, is er een nieuwe generatie van On-Board Diagnostic
systeem ontwikkeld. Deze tweede gerenatie van de On-Board
Diagnostic reglement heet "OBD II".
Het OBD II systeem is ontworpen om belangrijke motorcomponenten
en het emissie controle systeem te monitoren. Dit te doen door
doorlopende of periodieke testen uit te voeren voor specifieke
componenten en de toestand van het voertuig. Wanneer een probleem
is opgespoord, zou het OBD II systeem een waarschuwingslamp
(MIL) aanzetten op het instrumentpaneel om de bestuurder te
waarschuwen met de woorden ‘’Bekijk motor’’ of ‘’ Bedien motor
z.s.m’’. Het systeem zou ook belangrijke informatie bewaren betreft
de opgespoorde storing om de monteur te helpen bij het vinden en
verhelpen van het probleem. Hieronder volgt drie waardevolle
stukken informatie:
1) Ongeacht de storing indicatielamp (MIL) is bevolen op
‘’aan’’ of uit;
2) Which, if any, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are stored;
Welke (mits aanwezig) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
opgeslagen zijn;
3) Gereedsheid Monitor status.
2.2 Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
OBD II Diagnostic Trouble Codes zijn codes die opgeslagen zijn door
het voertuigcomputer’s diagnostieksysteem als gevolg van een
opgespoorde probleem in het voertuig. Deze codes identificeren een
bepaalde probleemgebied en zijn bedoeld om u te begeleiden bij een
mogelijke fout binnen het voertuig. OBD II Diagnostic Trouble
