Installing data (Fig. 1)
- Detector range is 2 m radius on standard glass
- Always keep at least 2 cm between detector and window frame
- Glass must be at least 2 mm thick
- Each separate window pane needs one detector
- Always mount the detector on the smooth side of the window pane
- Use only on normal single pane or double glazing
Mounting (use GS117 glue kit only) (Fig. 2)
A. Spray both the back of the detector and the chosen area of the
window with the solvent provided.
B. Wipe clean with a clean dry cloth or a paper towel.
C. Spray both parts light once again.
Wait two minutes.
D. Point the activator spray-can a few cm below the mounting area on
the window and turn the spray can upwards.
Apply a thin layer of activator.
Wait five minutes.
! Be careful, the activator is flammable and may irritate the
eyes.
E. Put one drop of glue on the ceramic base of the detector and spread
evenly.
F. Place detector in position at the prepared location.
Hold in place for 30 seconds.
Wait three minutes before attempting to wire the detector.
Caution: never glue the sensor to plastic or plastic foil!
Wiring GS200 (Fig. 3)
The GS200 is not polarity dependent.
The two leads with copper cores form one set of the supply’s in/out
wires: the two leads with tinned cores form the other set supply in/out
wire (see figure 3).
Figure 4 shows the standard balanced loop with the end of line resistor.
Figure 5 shows the special requirements of BS4737.
The ES058W Junction box (Fig. 6)
It shows how a number (max.20) of GS200s might be wired using the
Aritech ES058W junction box.
Operation (Fig. 7)
In the non-alarm state a very low current flows through the loop and the
voltage on the loop remains constant.
When a detector goes into alarm it causes a short circuit, shorting out
the end of line resistor and causing the voltage to fall.
This fall in voltage is the alarm signal.
An easy way to transform this into a simple NC relay signal suitable for
any standard panel is provided by the GS218 interface.
The GS200 latches in alarm and the detector in alarm is indicated by
a latching LED.
Resetting the detector is done by interrupting the power supply.
Wiring GS110 (Fig. 8)
The GS110 is polarity dependent.
The wires coming from the GS110 are identified as follows:
a. White, tinned core : alarm loop
b. White, copper core : tamper loop
c. Black : negative
d. Red : positive
The alarm relay contact is normally closed, opening on alarm or when
power is interrupted.
Testing (Fig. 9)
Use the GS115 test unit.
- Apply GS115 test unit to the window being protected near to the de-
tector.
- Wet the surface between test unit and window for optimum trans-
mission.
