The baby-unit is powered by the supplied power adaptor.
Connect the power adaptor with the 6V DC connection of the
parent unit and plug the power adaptor in a 230 Volt mains
socket.
9.3 PLACEMENT TIPS:
Do NOT place the baby unit in the bed with the baby, but
maintain a minimal distance of 1-2 meters between the
baby and the baby unit.
MAKE SURE THE BABY CANNOT TOUCH THE
ADAPTOR CABLE.
Do not expose the baby-unit or parent-unit to direct sunlight
or humid areas. This baby intercom is not water-proof,
penetrating moisture can cause damage to the electronics.
10 USE
Don’t forget that this baby intercom is merely an extra piece
of mind. The device can never replace the physical and
monitoring presence of a parent or babysitter.
10.1
SWITCHING ON/OFF AND CONNECTION VERIFICATION:
Switching on the parent unit:
1. press and hold the power unit for at least 2 seconds to
switch on the parent unit
2. the power indicator starts flashing and the parent unit will
establish a connection with the baby unit
Enable baby unit:
1. press and hold the power unit for at least 2 seconds to
switch on the parent unit
2. the power indicator starts flashing and the parent unit will
establish a connection with the baby unit
Connection OK:
as soon as the parent unit and baby unit have ‘found’ each
other, the connection is established and the indicators will
remain lit.
Switching off the parent unit and baby unit:
press and hold the power push-button on the parent or baby
unit for 2 seconds to switch off this unit
10.2 LISTENING:
As soon as the baby unit detects any sound, this sound will be
transmitted to the parent unit.
Reception volume:
You can set the volume (10 levels + sound off) with the keys +
and - on the parent unit.
Upon reaching the maximum or minimum volume, an extra
beep tone will sound when you press the + or - button.
Optical sound notification:
the sound indicators on the parent unit will illuminate accord-
ing to the rhythm of the bay crying; this provides you with an
indication of the sounds in the baby room even when you’re
turned off the volume
10.3 CALL TONE TO PARENT UNIT:
You can use this function to request assistance in the baby room
or to look for the parent unit in case you’ve misplaced it. Keep in
mind that the parent unit must be switched on in order to emit the
call tones.
1. briefly press the button on the baby unit
2. the parent unit will emit a series of 2 beep tones
3. this beep tone will stop after 2 minutes or you can press a
random button to stop the beep tones earlier
these beep tones can also be heard when the volume at the
parent unit is set to 0 (no sound)
10.4 NIGHT LIGHT:
The power indicator of the baby unit also acts as a night light.
Keep in mind that you cannot switch off this light without also
switching off the baby unit.
10.5 VOX (voice operated switch)
With the VOX switch on the parent unit set to OFF, the baby
unit will transmit all sounds of the baby to the parent unit, also
when the baby is sleeping quietly.
With the VOX switch set to ON, the baby unit will only transmit
sounds when the baby is crying.
The sound level at which the baby unit switches on in the VOX
ON mode is fixed and cannot be adjusted.
11 OTHER FUNCTIONS
11.1 ECO MODE:
When the VOX switch on the parent unit is set to ON, the
baby unit will stop transmitting when the baby is sleeping
quietly. In this case, the transmitter is switched off completely.
However, brief verification signals will check the connection
between the baby unit and parent unit.
When the VOX switch is set to OFF, the baby unit will transmit
continuously which means the ECO MODE is not available
with VOX OFF.
11.2 CONNECTION CHECK:
Parent unit:
As soon as and for as long as the parent unit and baby unit
are in contact with each other, the green on / off light is con-
tinuously on the parent unit will remain lit.
As soon as the parent unit gets out of range from the baby
unit (or the baby unit is switched off or malfunctions), this
indicator will start flashing while the unit emits a beep tone
every second.
As soon as the cause for the out-of-range notification has
been resolved, the connection indicator will become green
continuously and the beep tones will no longer be emitted.
Also when the units are first switched on, the connection indi-
cator will start flashing at first. The parent unit is now ‘search-
ing’ for the baby unit. As soon as the baby unit is ‘found’, the
indicator will become green.
Baby-unit:
When the connection between the parent unit and baby unit
is lost, the power indicator at the baby unit will start flashing.
However, no beep tones are emitted.
11.3 PARENT UNIT BATTERY INDICATION:
At least an hour before the parent unit switches off because of
empty batteries, the red power indicator will illuminate and a
beep tone will be emitted every 30 seconds. Please connect
the adaptor to recharge the batteries or insert full batteries.
12 GENERAL (SAFETY) INSTRUCTIONS AND TIPS
12.1 GENERAL:
Before every use, always check whether the baby intercom
is functioning correctly. In addition to checking the DBX-30
intercom’s range and connection, it’s recommended to check
its connection by ear while in use.
Only use the baby intercom as an additional peace of mind, it
can never serve as a replacement for an adult or human and
baby sitter.
The DBX-30 may not be used for anything else besides
detecting sounds within your own private surroundings; any
person located in the room that’s being listened to must be
informed about the baby intercom being used.
You are not required to have a license for the use of this baby
intercom. The system can be freely applied in any domestic
situation. However, an interference-free signal transmission
cannot always be guaranteed.
In case the units is not being used, please always turn the
device off using the power button.
TO AVOID THE RISK OF SUFFOCATION, IT’S ESSENTIAL
TO MAKE SURE THE BABY CAN NEVER REACH THE
ADAPTOR CABLE
12.2 MAINTENANCE:
Only clean the baby monitor with a moist cloth; never use
chemical cleaners. Before any cleaning, you must disconnect
the adapters. Before cleaning, any connected power adaptors
must be disconnected.
12.3 USING MULTIPLE BABY INTERCOMS:
The technology of the DBX-30 allows for the simultaneous
and strings-free use of multiple complete baby intercom sets
(baby-unit and parent-unit) next to each other, to monitor
multiple baby rooms at the same time; each parent/baby-unit
combination is provided with its own unique code, making
it impossible to receive DBX-99 signals from other baby
intercoms or for other baby intercoms to receive the sound
from your baby.
It is not possible to expand your DBX-30 with individual baby-
units or parent-units.
12.4 POWER SUPPLY:
Adaptors:
When using adaptors, only use the supplied adaptors.
Connecting power adaptors other than the supplied adaptors
can cause damage to the electronics of the DBX-30 intercom.
Batteries:
You can install both normal and rechargeable batteries, but
keep in mind that rechargeable batteries are charged at the
SIDE of the batteries. This means not all rechargeable batter-
ies can be used. When the supplied batteries are exhausted,
please contact the Alecto customer service for a new set of
rechargeable batteries with a side connection.
Order number of this battery type: “DBX-30.00”. We recom-
mend you to always replace both batteries at the same time,
even when only one battery is exhausted.
12.5 RANGE:
This baby intercom has a range of 300 meters in an open
field and up to 50 meters indoors; this range depends on local
conditions (concrete walls, other baby intercoms, wireless
phones, etc.).
12.6 PARENT UNIT BATTERY USE:
With fully charged batteries with a capacity, you can use
the parent unit more than 10 hours. This time depends on
the use (the setting of the volume level, the condition of the
rechargeable batteries, etc.).
Keep in mind that the parent unit still uses a small amount
of power when switched off. That’s why it’s recommended
to leave the parent unit connected to the power adaptor at
all times, even when you’re not using the baby monitor. This
ensures the battery pack is fully charged at any time you need
to make mobile use of the baby monitor.
The charging time of empty batteries is approximately 8 hours.
